The month of November is going by very quickly, and it’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is next week. More importantly, our fifth anniversary is tomorrow! On the same shopping trip that we found the fabric for the accent chair, we also found a very pretty and colorful paisley. Finally! The perfect fabric for the second coffee table frame we bought over the summer! We’ve been wanting more seating space in the spare bedroom, so we decided to make another tufted bench. But this time we wanted to try doing it using traditional tufting techniques and make a deep tuft with 22 buttons.
I was up for a challenge! And well…it was definitely a BIG challenge! Let’s make this very clear: this type of project was difficult and it’s certainly not for the faint of heart! (If you do decide to try it, do it with fewer buttons and a smaller surface.) Read more →
Hopefully by now, you’ve all seen the picture of our mischievous pups on their new bed! We were very excited that they stayed together long enough for us to get that shot (and it only took 5 takes!).
These moments don’t come along that often, so we wanted to frame the picture. We’ve always found that it’s expensive to have your photos framed, and we are never able to find fun and interesting frames that we liked enough to buy.
I thought of the excess chenille fabric from the bed, and Brent knew of a piece of 1 x 4 in the basement. Of course, for us, those two things just spell a beautiful upholstered picture frame! Going through our winter gear last week, we found an old Burberry scarf that Alberto had bought ten years ago in Spain at El Corte Ingles (love that store!). The last time we used it was for a Christmas picture we took of the dogs, so we thought it was time to bring it back into use…by making a few decorative pillows! Read more →
