Easter is next week, and we wanted to make a wreath that would also be fun, colorful and festive to decorate our front door. As we were walking through the aisles of Michaels, Alberto spotted a bag of yellow rubber duckies. Knowing he doesn’t tend to take bubble baths, I knew something had to be up. He then proceeded to pick up a foam wreath base, and I immediately saw the light bulb! My only thought was that it was going to be difficult to cover that base without A LOT of rubber duckies. Then we saw the half round globe, and the idea was born. We’d just cover the globe, add tulle around the edges, and make a rubber ducky flower! Perfect for Easter?! Read more →

We recently went to Michaels to and ran across these cute little paper cupcake liners with X’s and O’s all over them. They were so cute that we couldn’t pass them up. Then it struck us…why not use them to make the wreath?! We picked up some pipe cleaners, and we were off! When we got home, I started playing around with the liners to try making a cone, but it wasn’t really working. But as I was playing with them, it occurred to me that I could add a couple of more liners, and they look very similar to carnations. Then it all came together at once. We are making a carnation wreath using cupcake liners! Read more →
It’s been a very busy year for us. Between moving (twice!), settling in, and unpacking (twice!), we thought we were doing well by putting up the Christmas decorations during Thanksgiving weekend. We’ve been enjoying our new place with all of our three Christmas trees when suddenly we realized that we never made a wreath for the front door! Big oops! Read more →
Valentine’s Day is around the corner and it’s the perfect excuse to sate our wreath-making obsession! We haven’t had a wreath since the holidays, so we were already itching to have another one for the house. Alberto has been wanting to do a project with some leftover sisal rope and this wreath seemed perfect to try it. All we did was wrap the wreath in rope, paint it pink, add a little sash, satin, and bling…and voila! An over-the-top wreath for Valentine’s Day that is perfect to inspire a little love in the air! (and which will hopefully live on as a picture frame too!) Read more →
Many of you know that Alberto and I love making wreaths…and the holiday season always gives us a good excuse to make new ones for the house. We came up with the idea of using Christmas gift bows a few years back and decided to revisit them while walking through our local market and found bags full of them. They were all so shiny and colorful that we couldn’t resist…now, all we needed was a few styrofoam wreaths and the glue guns, of course! Read more →
As many of you know, last year’s Halloween wreath was featured in this month’s Woman’s Day Halloween Celebrations. We were very excited when the magazine selected us and were quick to put one together for the photo shoot. If you can’t find the magazine anymore, here’s a link to our wreath on their website (including instructions!), but below are a couple of pictures of how we went about putting it together (in May) for the issue!!!
A few weekends ago, while trying to figure out what kind of Halloween decorations we wanted to do this year, Alberto and I came across a ball of paper twine at the local dollar store. The ball was weaved into a pattern that we really liked and we immediately thought…the perfect material for a cobweb wreath! (sorry…this is very normal for us) Read more →
On our recent visit to Spain, we saw a lot of design ideas while shopping through home and interior design shops. One shop in particular had a mirror that really inspired us. We loved the circular diamond lattice design, but it was very expensive and we didn’t really want to deal with bringing it back home. On closer inspection, I told Alberto that I could make that easily. (Famous last words!) We weren’t sure how we would use the design, but we knew that we wanted to find a place for it somewhere in our home. Read more →
Okay! Call me superstitious, but I think our Winter Glass Tile Wreath was just courting Mother Nature to bring even more snow and ice to our area. And after snow last Friday, we were done and took it down.
Now, being that Easter is only a couple of weeks away, we wanted to entice the warm weather to hurry it along a little…so we’re making a sweet wreath made out of jelly beans.
Yes, jelly beans. We had wanted to use something different to make the wreath interesting and the pastel beans we found at the local grocery store were perfect for our project! Read more →
